Invader Zim Lives!

Invader Zim Lives!

Invader Zim Lives!

Hey weirdos,

For those of you who are unaware, I’m kind of a HUGE fan of a little cartoon from 2001 called Invader Zim.

(I even have a tattoo of him and his robot dog Gir on my arm).

This bizarre, awkward, and highly chaotic show was highly influential on teenage Anndy.

Death of an Invader

Unfortunately, the show was cut short in its second season without ever receiving any sort conclusion.

Many years later a group called Project Massive formed.

Their intent was to try and find a way to bring Invader Zim back from the dead.

When I found out about this mission, I wrote a song for Project Massive called Invader Zim.

This song is based around the titular character and my love for the series.

I honestly didn’t think much would come of it.

Interestingly the song received a substantial amount of love due to the shows cult fan base.

That was back in 2012.

Back from the Dead

Flash forward to a few months ago and an announcement is shared with me.

Shared again, and again, and again, and again.

Turns out Invader Zim was coming back, and it is to be a film instead of a series.

I was amazed, flabbergasted, and down right stoked.

There was enough demand among fans that Nickelodeon and the creator Jhonen Vasquez had agreed to dig Invader Zim out of his early grave and breath new life into the series.

Project Massive had worked.

Rise of the Florpus

In exactly one week (August 16th) Invader Zim: Enter The Florpus (ridiculously amazing name btw) will be released on Netflix in its feature film glory.

So this seems like the perfect time to remix my original song, get some fancy new art work (courtesy of Alanna Cooper), and put together a spiffy lyric video for the song.

I think the song sounds much better now (I’m significantly better at mixing than I was back in 2012) and I can’t think of a better way to celebrate the resurrection of a show and character I hold so dear to my heart!

Here we are. A week to go and this is my hommage to the eccentric and erratic show that had such a huge effect on me as a teenager.

Please enjoy the DOOM and TACO filled lunacy!

I hope you enjoy it.
